Accountant
Personal Finance · Android app by tribalfs
Personal finance made easy, with real double-entry accounting. Built by a CPA.
What it does
Accountant records both sides of every transaction, so your income, expenses and net worth are right. Paying a credit card bill isn't a new expense, and being paid back isn't new income.
- Cash, bank accounts, credit cards, loans, income and expenses, in any currency
- Net worth, profit and loss, cash flow and budget vs actual, with PDF and CSV export
- Receipt scanning on your device, and an optional AI Accountant (on-device, or OpenAI, Gemini or Claude with your own API key)
- Works offline with no sign-up. Backups, CSV import and export, PIN or biometric lock
How Accountant uses your Google account
Signing in with Google is optional. It's used only for Sync across devices and shared ledgers, and only after you turn sync on.
- The app asks only for Google Drive's
drive.filepermission. It sees only the files it creates or that you open with it, not the rest of your Drive. - Your ledger is saved in your own Google Drive, in a folder named Accountant sync. Attachments go in the
.accountant_dont_deletefolder. - There's no Accountant server. Data goes directly between your device and Google Drive, and we never receive your ledger.
- When you share a ledger, the people you add get read access to your sync file through their Google accounts.
- Your Google account email stays on your device so the app can reconnect.
To remove access, go to Google Account › Security › Third-party connections. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Privacy
Your ledger stays on your device, or in your own Google Drive if you turn on sync. Google services and ad partners collect device identifiers and usage data, as the Privacy Policy explains.
